Generally, either the size of the order or customer preference determines which type of full color booklet printing is necessary. Generally, smaller quantities are cost effectively printed on a digital printing press. Larger quantities of over 500 are better suited for a sheetfed offset printing press. Sometimes size can effect which printing press is used. Lastly, personal preference can play a role in the printing press decision. Digital and sheetfed offset printing have different looks, however both offer quality printed pieces.

Tips

Writing copy for your color booklet may be one of your great challenges! Remember, copy should be clear and persuasive. Headlines should be captivating and draw the reader inside the booklet. Sometimes images can help illustrate headlines and encourage people to find out more. Copy should be large enough to read without straining and should be a serif font verses a san serif font, which is generally more difficult to read. Bullet points are a great way to make several important statements or take-home points. Breaking up large blocks of copy and writing in short sentences will help break up your booklet and increase the comprehension.

Color

Full color booklet printing is the most popular type of booklet or catalog printing. Full color on the cover and black text on the insides pages is another option for your booklet.

Stock

Full color booklet printing offers two different stock options. One option is the use the same stock for the entire booklet and your other option is to have a heavier stock for your cover and a thinner stock for the interior pages of your booklet. If your entire booklet will be of the same stock, we offer the choice of 100# gloss text or 80# gloss text. If you are planning on using a heavier stock for the cover we offer 80# gloss cover and 80# gloss text for the interior pages. Custom stocks are also available. Fill out our custom quote form to get an estimate on your specialty stock option. Aqueous and UV coating can be added to any of these options to create a professional, smudge-free finish.

Size

An 8.5 X 11 and an 8.5 X 5.5 are the two standard options that Print Lion offers for booklets. Either size can run on a digital press or a sheetfed offset press. Custom sizes can also be ordered using our quick quote form.

Design

Booklet design is extremely important to the acceptance of your booklet by customers and prospects. The booklet design should enhance and be cohesive with the overall brand image. For example, neon yellow may not reflect a law firm well. Make sure that you keep your industry and audience in mind. Kids and young adults may be attracted to modern designs and bright colors; however senior citizens may be attracted to primary colors. Larger companies create the same booklet in multiple colors to see which color was more successful. Also, the industry can dictate some of your design elements and color choices. Saddle-stitching and perfect binding are our standard bindery options. Saddle-stitching is the most popular and cost effective binding method for any size booklet. Various shipping options are available for your booklet order. If you order far enough in advance, ground shipping for a minimal cost is offered. If you need your order in two days expedited air shipping is available. If your product needs to be mailed directly to your customer and you do not want them to know that it is coming from Print Lion, we offer blind shipping. Lastly, if your booklet is being mailed, we offer affordable, quick mailing service. You can send us your current mailing list or speak with us about ordering a new one to reach new prospects. Remember to check the mailing regulations before submitting your files for print. Size, color, stock can affect your mailing cost. Today, triple tabbing should also be considered. Your design should be tailored to the post office requirements to prevent mailing delays or an expensive mailing cost.
