Type of printing

When considering brochure printing, quantity and the type of printing greatly impacts the cost. Lower quantities will be cheaper running on a digital press. Quantities of over 500 are printed on sheetfed offset presses at Print Lion. If color is very important to you, than sheet-feed offset will offer you a better quality full color printing brochure. While full color brochure printing is color printing, the ink lays on the paper differently and does not offer the same quality.

Custom brochure printing can be costly. Custom die-cutting is costly because a custom die-cut needs to be made from scratch and running a die-cut job usually requires more labor. Other printing services such as foil stamping and laminating adds a significant cost because of materials and labor. Perfect binding is usually more costly than saddle stitching because of the cost of materials and labor.

Brochure printing costs generally increase with the addition of folding. Some folds such as a Z-fold, tri-fold and half fold may not be expensive and will most likely cost about the same. Gate folds generally are more expensive than the other folds because the brochure must run through the folding machine twice to create that type of fold.
